Intent

At Amesbury Archer Primary School we want our children to ‘Aim High’ and know that they have the ability to achieve anything they put their minds to. We want to provide our children with an exciting, enthusiastic and engaging Music curriculum so that they feel confident emotionally, mentally and creatively. Our children will be encouraged to aspire to take pride in their musical activities and explore new genres and areas of Music with a curious outlook. They will learn to perform with confidence and build their own resilience, this in hand will boost their self-esteem. Children at Amesbury Archer will listen and appraise a range of artists from across the years, with a respectful and honest attitude. At Amesbury Archer we use Charanga as a basis for our music curriculum to ensure an interactive programme for our pupils. Charanga is a highly comprehensive scheme that allows our teachers to feel confident to provide a wholesome and creative Music curriculum. Following this scheme will allow our children to develop their skills securely as each Unit of Work enables children to understand musical concepts through a repetition-based approach to learning. This will enable a more secure, deeper learning and mastery of musical skills.
