Curriculum Intent

Curriculum Intent Statement

At Amesbury Archer we aim for our curriculum to be inclusive, aspirational, and progressive, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, ability, or need, receives a high-quality education.

We aim for our pupils to leave Amesbury Archer Primary School with a deep understanding of the core and foundation subjects, an ability to apply their learning in real-life contexts, and a readiness to thrive in their next stage of education.

Amesbury Archer Primary School's curriculum is designed to be inclusive, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or learning needs, can access and benefit from a high-quality education. The school recognises the diversity of its students. We adapt learning opportunities to meet the needs of all pupils, whether they require additional support or are ready to be challenged further.

An aspirational curriculum underpins the ethos at Amesbury Archer Primary School. Teachers encourage students to aim high in their academic pursuits and personal growth, nurturing a mindset of perseverance and ambition. The curriculum is designed not only to help students succeed academically but also to promote critical thinking, creativity, and resilience, equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in the future.

At Amesbury Archer, we believe a progressive approach to the curriculum is essential to provide our children with the relevant knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become lifelong learners. Our curriculum is designed to build on prior learning and experiences, providing a clear pathway for pupils to develop their knowledge, skills, and understanding in individual subject areas. We ensure we revisit skills and build on key concepts throughout the years to enable this key learning to be transferred to pupils’ long-term memory.
